Fresh from the Farm Restaurant: Welcom to Schnepf Farms

by Jamie on February 23, 2008

For those of you looking for some fresh food check out Schnepf Farms latest venture!
In what used to be the farm stand now houses the Fresh From the Farm Restaurant.  They are open Wednesday- Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I was lucky to sample their breakfast last Saturday during that wonderful rainy weekend we were having.

We were worried that we would have to wait for a table but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to an almost empty restaurant.  The place is very rustic and we were told that it’s decor comes from the Schnepf’s love of the French countryside, where they vacation frequently. Once you sit you will notice the huge amount of canned edibles that line the walls for sale.  These canned cobblers, sauces, salsas, dips and veggies would make great gifts this holiday season as well.

The breakfast menu was small, which is good for us, and featured your basic bacon and eggs, omlelets, pancakes and french toast and waffles and pastries.

I have to tell you that once the food arrived, I was pleased with the portions and everything looked wonderful.  The servers were very polite and friendly and if you are lucky enough to view the kitchen during your meal you will notice Carrie Schepf right there cooking your food!

When they billed the restaurant "fresh from the farm" they were right. I have NEVER tasted eggs like the ones I had that morning.  I dream of them daily and I am NOT an egg person really.  They tasted so good and all I can attribute it to was that they were fresh from the farm!  The bacon was another delicacy—thick cut and smokey flavored…simply delicious!

We were surprised with a FREE sample of their fresh and HOT pumpkin spice donuts.  Those were probably the best breakfast pastry I have ever had as well!
So, with this glowing review, take a morning and stop off for breakfast!

I am excited to get back and try lunch and dinner.  I read that dinner is "good old home style cooking" complete withe meatloaf and mashed potatoes, pot roast and other yummy creations straight from grandma’s kitchen.

Enter off Rittenhouse as if you were going to the farm and just follow the signs- parking is on the right as soon as you enter the farm. And on Saturdays and Sundays you can enjoy the farm and all it has to offer for just $5.  That includes rides and the corn maze as well as the petting zoo which now houses reindeer!  I’ll be back for that and I will post how wonderful that is!
