That is what many community members are hoping to accomplish. The "GSTAC" hopes to bring a voice to the San Tan Area. Jack Malpass, an area resident and former San Tan Chamber of Commerce President is spearheading this community effort.
Informational meetings have been held in the area to determine what the community is interested in, what their fears and hopes are for the area. The greater San Tan area is part of a larger entity that is Unincorporated Pinal County. There was an incorporation effort in the past which never got off the ground. There are many things that go into an incorporation attempt. Many community members are interested in incorporation, many are interested in annexation, either with Queen Creek or Florence and many just don’t know. That is where the GSTAC hopes to come in. The Greater San Tan Area Coalition (GSTAC) effort was initiated under sponsorship of the San Tan Area Chamber of Commerce. GSTAC believes that whether the San Tan area was chosen by someone for a home, business, or development opportunity, all are linked in their futures.
The following are goals and facts about GSTAC:
•Goals for GSTAC include providing the opportunity for a unified community voice and helping residents become a cohesive community
•To address economic, civic, cultural and education issues
•It will cover an area in land mass larger than Queen Creek
•The population it represents is larger than any city in
Pinal
County
•It is not an attempt to incorporate, nor an effort to remain unincorporated
•It is not for or against annexations into existing municipalities
•The mission is to combine all the communities within the Greater San Tan Area into a coalition to establish mutual visions and goals for development and quality of life
•GSTAC will not be a governing body
•GSTAC will be a vehicle for facilitating active citizen participation in land use, economic, cultural and education decision.
