Unincorporated Queen Creek has a new name- San Tan Valley- 23 names were considered and about 2000 people voted.
Unincorporated Queen Creek is not a part of the Town of Queen Creek, as a result the area is does not have city services. Many feel that with a new name the area will have its own identity that will help attract future business.
Along with the new name, are new zip codes. The change will call on 30 ZIP codes on the far east and southeastern edges of the Valley to change from "852" ZIP codes to "851" ZIP codes, with other numbers remaining the same. So, if your current ZIP code is 85242, your new ZIP code will be 85142.
The zip code change takes effect July 1, 2009. There will be a one year grace period, in which the old zip code will work.
